The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, met today with the Australian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Vienna, Ian David Grainge Biggs.

Minister Konakovic and Ambassador Biggs agreed that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Australia are good and friendly, with no outstanding issues.

The Minister thanked Australia for its intensive support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards the EU, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains focused on implementing key priorities and fulfilling the conditions for full EU membership. The interlocutors further discussed the current level of cooperation with NATO, as well as other current political and social developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

Ambassador Ian David Grainge Biggs reiterated that Australia stands by Bosnia and Herzegovina, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity, expressing hope that future activities will benefit all its citizens and preserve the multiethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was concluded that the numerous Bosnian community in Australia contributes to the good political bilateral relations between the two countries and that this could be a strong basis for developing economic cooperation, which is currently not at a high level, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
