Bosnia and Herzegovina has the right on its stance and does not need to agree with others, said foreign minister Elmedin Konakovic, commenting on the ongoing Middle East conflict, stressing that the voice of BiH needs to be heard.

“We are the country that survived aggression, besieged cities, a genocide. European Union needs to hear our voice as well. The message from BiH needs to be heard. Because, if they had been more just towards BiH, the atrocities would not have been repeating now in Ukraine and Palestine,” he stressed.

Konakovic condemned all actions threatening civilians.

“We can also say for Hamas that killing the civilians is not an allowed norm. We were condemning such things in BiH, too. Nor can the separate actions of Hamas be an alibi to destroy Gaza and kill thousands of children,” said the minister.

He expects that those responsible will be brought to justice.

“We took the side of justice, there is no alibi for killing a child. That's a legal norm, not taking sides,” added Konakovic.

According to him, the issue of Gaza has been ignored for years and the world did not react adequately either during the war in BiH.

“Now it is all repeating in Ukraine and while we are watching the scenes of horror from Gaza,” he said.
