Bisera Turkovic, Bosnia's Foreign Minister, has asked the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija to declare July 11 the day of mourning in the whole country, in memory of the Srebrenica genocide victims.
Turkovic filed the initiative on Wednesday to be discussed either in a regular or urgent phone session prior to July 11.
She said the Foreign Affairs Ministry will instruct all Bosnian missions and diplomatic-consular offices abroad to mark July 11 by flying the flags at half-mast and informing the host countries about such action, “in a wish that the truth and justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina serve as the ground for reconciliation and better future of all citizens and peoples of BiH.”
The 26th commemoration for the Srebrenica genocide victims will take place on July 11 at the Potocari Memorial Centre. Nineteen more identified victims will be buried this year in a mass ceremony.
The Organising Committee announced that the 26th commemoration for the victims will take place under the restrictions imposed during the epidemic. Officials will not be allowed to attend but will have an opportunity to send a video message, which will be played on commemoration day.
