Perhaps it is time for Bosnian institutions, like many other countries in the EU, to start dealing with the issue of a kind of hybrid war against BiH and its institutions and the deliberate placement of false information, often in the interest of malignant foreign influences, BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic said Thursday.
According to her, she has lately been too often the target of false news and misinformation on Facebook.
“It's clear to me that there are political centres that don't like BiH to be represented in the right way and with quality in Berlin, Vienna, Brussels or the White House. In this context, I see all the untruths, including those denied by the MFA of Germany and false claims that I was vaccinated in Croatia,” Turkovic said.
“BiH and our citizens, as well as our economy, institutions and all the patriots suffer consequences and damage due to numerous slanders, malicious and false information placed by some media, often under political pressure and control. Media criticism is not a problem, but fake news is.
Who’s interest is it to spread misinformation at a time when we are all facing the difficult challenge of the third wave of the pandemic? Just look at the strongholds of these attacks and everything will be clear to you.
I will take legal action against the media that published false information and defamation in accordance with the law. But it’s more important that BiH finds a way to fight against the ongoing malignant foreign influences and hybrid aggression, to which we’ve been long warned against by our many international friends and partners,” Minister Turkovic said.
