Forto: Record 82 million KM from CRA funds invested in state projects, BHRT gets historic support

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina today adopted new decisions and amendments to previous decisions on the allocation of funds from the Communications Regulatory Agency of BiH (CRA), upon the proposal of the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH Edin Forto, securing an additional 6 million KM for BHRT, 2 million KM each for the entity governments for the development of electronic media and strengthening media pluralism, and 1.7 million KM for CRA to strengthen its regulatory capacities.

Forto stated that today’s decisions confirm that CRA funds are no longer money sitting idle in an account, but a driver of development and strengthening of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Before this mandate, a significant portion of these funds had remained unallocated for years. Today, we are talking about a record 82 million KM invested in concrete projects across BiH. For the first time, as much as 35 percent of the total allocated funds has been directed to BiH institutions – more than ever before. This shows that public money can be used to strengthen the state and implement projects that bring real benefits to citizens,” Forto said.
He recalled that thanks to decisions made during this mandate, funds have for the first time on this scale been directed to state institutions, including IDDEEA, the BiH Border Police, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Railway Public Corporation, and the Communications Regulatory Agency of BiH.
The funds have financed projects in digital transformation, development of broadband infrastructure, border security improvements, transport modernisation, railway infrastructure development, public administration digitalisation, and strengthening of regulatory capacities.
Speaking about today’s decision allocating an additional 6 million KM to BHRT, Forto stressed that this is the largest financial support ever provided to the public broadcaster through CRA funds.
“Two years ago, we secured a record 4 million KM for BHRT. Today, we are raising that record to a new level and securing an additional 6 million KM, bringing total support to BHRT during this mandate to a historic 10 million KM. A stable public service is not a question of one institution alone, but of the interest of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that is why we decided to take a step forward that has not been taken before,” Forto said.
