The municipality of Travnik and France will revive the French presence in this Bosnian city through joint projects, given that France is one of the two countries that had a consulate in Travnik in the past, the mayor of Travnik, Kenan Dautovic, and the French Ambassador to BiH Christine Toudic said after the Wednesday meeting.
Toudic says that, after France took over the presidency of the European Union, the goal is the maximum presence of this European country in the whole of BiH.
“Since Travnik is a place where France has been present before and this was an opportunity to revive it. The Mayor has the same ideas, it is a sign to me that we need to work together, so through the project of Ivo Andric and his work we will try to revive the time of the French presence here,” said Toudic.
Mayor Dautovic announced a new event, Consular Days, whose first guest of honour will be France.
“One of the concrete results of this visit is that we have already in some way determined the place, time and manner of holding the Consular Days, and that will be on June 3 this year. We certainly planned to realize this event with an invitation to the entire diplomatic corps in Sarajevo, so France has accepted to be the first guest of honour,” Dautovic pointed out
“Through the promotion of a tradition and old times, we will remember what connects us and, of course, all this will be based on our Nobel Prize winner, whom we are very proud of,” said Dautovic.
