From Old Bridge to Bascarsija: Roby the humanoid robot begins historic tour of Bosnia

The future met tradition this morning as Roby, a humanoid robot developed by Vandri Robotics, crossed the iconic Old Bridge in Mostar. This symbolic walk marked the first official presentation of humanoid robotics in Bosnia and Herzegovina, showcasing a blend of historical heritage and cutting-edge technology.

When asked by onlookers if he would attempt the famous dive from the bridge into the Neretva river, Roby displayed his programmed wit. "With this battery, one jump and I’m done," the robot remarked. "But I admit, it would look spectacular, if only I had a parachute and a power boost."
Following the appearance in Mostar, which included a stop at the Bruce Lee statue for a brief demonstration of kung-fu inspired movements, Roby traveled to Sarajevo. At the historic Bascarsija, the robot engaged with citizens to demonstrate the practical application of humanoid technology in public and commercial spaces. The national tour is scheduled to continue toward Banja Luka.
Developed by Vandri Robotics, Roby is designed to provide safe, flexible, and practical solutions for real-world environments, ranging from tourism and education to public institutions and smart cities. The developers emphasized that the focus is on natural communication and collaboration with humans rather than replacing them.
"They will work with us and for us in households, as well as in industry and tourism. We are already developing robots for hotel receptions, and this is just the beginning," representatives stated during the presentation.
