The Italian city of Nembro hosted the promotion of "In Sarajevo, There Was Love" on Tuesday, a new work by renowned Italian journalist and war correspondent Gigi Riva. Drawing from his extensive experience reporting on the Balkan conflicts of the 1990s, Riva uses the book to explore the profound human connections that emerged during the longest siege in modern history.

The narrative follows a reporter named Carlo, Riva’s alter ego, as he navigates the 1,425-day siege of the Bosnian capital. Beyond the trauma of war, the book serves as a testament to the extraordinary solidarity, unity, and mutual care among Sarajevo's citizens. It reflects on shattered hopes and survival strategies while juxtaposing wartime memories with the reality of a rebuilt city where streets and cafés are once again full of life.

Arijana Dzogovic, Consul at the Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Milan, attended the event and expressed gratitude to Riva for his firsthand reporting during the country's most difficult period. She also took the opportunity to highlight the historical humanity shown by the Italian people toward Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dzogovic noted that Sarajevo has since transformed into a premier global tourist destination. She reminded the audience that National Geographic readers named Sarajevo the world’s best destination in 2025 and mentioned that the promotional film “Visit Sarajevo: Where Cultures Embrace” recently won top honours at the prestigious ART&TUR Festival in Portugal.
