Remembering Srebrenica Scotland (in partnership with Interfaith Scotland) presents a screening of the Academy nominated film 'Quo Vadis, Aida?' at the CCA on Friday 22nd July with Q&A via live video link to Srebrenica, Bosnia Herzegovina.
The Chair of Remembering Srebrenica Scotland, Julie Adair, told N1's Ika Ferrer Gotić that keeping the truth of what happened in this eastern-Bosnian enclave has a highly significant importance:
“Fifty years after the world said ‘never again’ when confronted with the horrors of the Holocaust, genocide and gender violence took place on European soil – in Srebrenica, Visegrad, Prijedor and many, many other places across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our charity seeks to stand beside the survivors and retell their stories. We weep with the Mothers of Srebrenica whose fathers, husbands, sons and brothers never came home – and we pledge to work for peace and unity in our own communities by sharing their stories across Scotland,” said Adair.
The movie tells the story of what happened in Srebrenica before and after 11th July 1995 and will be followed by a short Q&A with Almasa Salihovic, a survivor of the events of that week.
The screening starting at 19.00 and running, including Q&A, until approximately 22.15.
