Citizens gathered in the eastern town of Gorazde to protest over the arrest of former top police official of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, Edin Vranj, in Serbia, demanding his release.
Serbian police arrested Vranj as he crossed the border last Sunday. According to Serbian authorities, he is suspected of involvement in crimes against prisoners of war.
Citizens, including veterans, gathered around 14 o’clock in Gorazde, Vranj’s home town.
They say they are seeking justice and the release of the arrested citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who have been in Belgrade prisons for years without the right to a dignified investigation and trial in their homeland.
One of the demands is to prosecute and detain members of the former army of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska entity and to investigate crimes committed not only in Gorazde but also for those committed in Foca, Visegrad, Rogatica, Cajnice and the entire territory of RS. They also demand the dismissal of Bosnia’s Chief Prosecutor, Gordana Tadic.
