Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity must focus especially on vaccinating its elderly population since, although the number of coronavirus infections in the entity is relatively low, it is increasing, the head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Bosnia, Fabio Scano, said on Monday.
“It is the most vulnerable group because it has the highest mortality due to coronavirus,” Scano said after a meeting on the immunization process and the epidemiological situation in the FBiH at the entity’s Health Ministry.
Scano even proposed going door to door and vaccinating the elderly population if deemed necessary.
“The Delta strain is predominant in most countries in the European region of the World Health Organization,” said Scano.
He added that it is expected that citizens will leave their homes more often due to the improved weather conditions. Although the number of infected is relatively low in Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, it is slowly increasing, he noted.
“We have to do something now. We cannot predict which direction the epidemic is going and when it will end,” he said, urging citizens to get tested and stay in home isolation if their test comes back positive.
