Heavy rainfall created problems for citizens in the north of the country. The situation is particularly difficult in Prijedor, Kozarska Dubica and Novi Grad. Dozens of households have been flooded, and with the rains not abating, it is feared that the water will penetrate into many of them.
A large number of settlements in Prijedor have been flooded, and traffic is difficult throughout the entire territory of the city. The situation is currently the most difficult in the settlement of Topolik, where the population, with the help of the Civil Protection Service, is trying to prevent water from entering households.
Drasko Djenadija from the Civil Protection Service of the City of Prijedor said in a short telephone conversation for N1 that the large watercourses of Sana and Mljecanica generally do not pose a threat, and that the households and property of residents are mostly affected by surface water. The amount of precipitation that fell on Prijedor was too great for the local infrastructure and drains.
Apart from Tololik, the situation is also dangerous in the settlement of Vrbice, where the water is also approaching and threatening the population.
An orange warning has been issued due to the threat of weather conditions and the forecasted large amount of precipitation for the north of BiH.
Heavy rainfall also created problems on the roads in the northwest of the country. The Mljecanica river overflowed onto the main road Kozarska Dubica – Prijedor, and due to heavy rainfall, the Binjacka river swelled, as well as canals in the villages of Dubicke Ravni in the area of the Dubica municipality.
Water has covered half of the road on the road to Gradiska near Crnacki most, and the road in Orahova towards Gradiska is completely underwater.
There is water on the road on the main road Novi Grad – Prijedor, as well as on the main road Novi Grad – Kostajnica, said Mirko Lukic, from the Novi Grad Civil Protection Service.
