Traffic has been suspended for all vehicle categories on several roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to heavy snowfall. The affected routes include Glamoc-Mliniste, Bosansko Grahovo-Drvar-Bosanski Petrovac, Drvar-Glamoc, Kupres-Blagaj, Kotor Varos-Teslic (Borja), Banja Luka-Knezevo, and Bosanski Petrovac-Kljuc.
In addition, truck traffic is currently prohibited on the Tomislavgrad-Posusje road and the Ripac-Vrtoce route, specifically on the Dubovsko-Lipa section.
Following the removal of a stranded truck on the Tuzla-Srebrenik road (Previle), traffic is moving slowly, with alternating single-lane passage. On the “January 9” highway and other main and regional roads in Republika Srpska, truck traffic is suspended until 10 pm.
Snow is making driving conditions difficult across much of Bosnia, while roads in Herzegovina are reported to be wet. Mountain passes are particularly hazardous due to packed snow on the road surface, and snow chains are mandatory for trucks on these routes.
Strong winds are further complicating conditions, creating snowdrifts and contributing to frequent instances of fallen trees blocking roadways.
Due to adverse winter conditions, truck traffic has also been suspended at the Izacic border crossing. Increased traffic has been reported at the Velika Kladusa and Gradiska border crossings for vehicles entering Bosnia and Herzegovina. At other crossings, passenger vehicle wait times are under 30 minutes, according to a statement from BIHAMK (Bosnian Automobile and Motorcycle Club).
