Due to ongoing snowfall and increased snowdrifts, electricity supply remains disrupted in areas served by Elektroprivreda BiH, with approximately 47,000 customers still without power. Failures on 35 kV, 20 kV, and 10 kV transmission lines, caused by heavy wet snow and fallen trees, have also affected low-voltage networks.
Worst-affected regions
The hardest-hit area is the Una-Sana Canton, where 25% of customers in Bihac, Cazin, Bosanska Krupa, Buzim, Bosanski Petrovac, Kljuc, Sanski Most, and Velika Kladusa are without power. Other regions facing significant outages include:
Tuzla Canton: Over 14,000 customers in Celic, Gradacac, Lukavac, and Srebrenik
Central Bosnia Canton: Approximately 9,000 customers
Zenica-Doboj Canton: About 4,800 customers in Zenica, Tesanj, Maglaj, Vares, and Zavidovici
Sarajevo and Herzegovina-Neretva Cantons: Disruptions in Tarcin, Jablanica, and Konjic
Repair efforts
Elektroprivreda BiH crews are working intensively to restore power but face challenges due to difficult terrain and limited access.
“Considering the forecast of continued snowfall, which could affect the stability of electricity supply, we ask customers for patience and understanding,” stated Elektroprivreda BiH.
Wider impacts
Similar issues have been reported in areas served by Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (EP RS), leaving tens of thousands of households without power.
With snowfall expected to continue, both electricity providers urge citizens to remain cautious and prepared for ongoing disruptions.
