he Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BiH) organized today in the premises of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina the presentation "Digital Transition: The Key to Innovation through the Digital Europe Program."
The Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Edin Forto spoke about the importance of the digital transition for BiH and the region in his opening address.
He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to apply for funds intended for digital transformation, which is a consequence of joining the “Digital Europe” program.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina will no longer be the only country in the Western Balkans that is not a member of the ‘Digital Europe’ program.
By signing the agreement with the European Commission, interested citizens, non-governmental organizations, public administrations and companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the opportunity to apply for funds in the total amount of 1.5 billion KM,” said Minister Forto.
According to him, in this way, significant support is given to the process of digital transformation in the interest of citizens and catching up with European standards in this area.
Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of BiH (IDDEEA) Almir Badnjevic presented the mission and vision of IDDEEA in the context of digital transformation.
He said that the digital transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to develop, but that its implementation and speed will depend on a number of factors, including political will, investments in technology and infrastructure, education and legislation.
“Digital transformation is key for the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The success of the digital transformation in BiH depends on the synergy between the government, the private sector, educational institutions and citizens. Overcoming the aforementioned challenges and effectively using the opportunities brought by digitalization can significantly contribute to the socioeconomic development of the country,” said Badnjevic.
The ‘Digital Europe’ program is worth 7.5 billion euros and provides funding for projects in digitization, artificial intelligence, cyber security and advanced digital skills.
