Indirect tax revenues in BiH reach €4.6 billion in first nine months of 2025

According to the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA), taxpayers with legal entitlement to refunds received 1.634 billion marks (approx. €836 million) in VAT reimbursements during the January–September period.

Net revenues distributed to beneficiaries, state institutions, the entities, and Brcko District, amounted to 7.373 billion marks (approx. €3.77 billion), which is 5.73 percent higher than in the same period of 2024.

In September 2025 alone, the ITA collected 1.120 billion marks (approx. €572 million) in indirect taxes, up 130 million marks (approx. €66 million) compared to September last year.

For financing state-level institutions, 749 million marks (approx. €382 million) was allocated in the first nine months of 2025. The remainder went to the entities and Brcko District:

• The Federation of BiH received 4.072 billion marks (approx €2.08 billion);
• Republika Srpska received 2.281 billion marks (approx €1.17 billion);
• Brcko District received 228 million marks (approx €116 million).

Additionally, revenues from the special road tax for the construction and reconstruction of highways and other roads (0.25 marks per liter of fuel) were distributed as follows:

• Federation of BiH: 185 million marks (approx. €95 million);
• Republika Srpska: 122 million marks (approx. €62 million);
• Brcko District: 6 million marks (approx €3 million).

The ITA noted that the remaining funds from this tax are kept in a special reserve account.
