Ali Mahmutcehajic, one of the organizers of the protest rally, spoke to N1.

“We are sending a message directly to the US government, that their support for Israel is direct complicity with the war crimes and genocide that is happening in Gaza, with the bombing of hospitals, with the total blockade of Gaza, where the ordinary population lives. It is a war crime according to international humanitarian law,” the organizer said.

He pointed out that the US should do the same with Gaza as it did with Ukraine, which is to show support.

He also said that one cannot be a hypocrite and dictate “who will be a human being and who will not”.

“Over 14,000 civilians were killed, including 6,000 children. The US defends what Israel is doing in every context. We cannot be hypocrites and dictate who will be a human being and who will not. We have come together as an informal group to send a message to the US government to immediately stop what is happening [in Gaza],” Mahmutcehajic concluded.
