Islamic Community and Merhamet to rebuild homes for flood victims

F.Z./N1

A meeting was held on Thursday at the Municipality of Jablanica to discuss rebuilding homes for families who lost their properties during recent floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Attending the meeting were Ibrahim ef. Malanovic, Head of the Office for Social Care at the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Kenan Vrbanjac, President of Merhamet Humanitarian Society; and Emir Muratovic, Mayor of Jablanica.

The project will see homes built in the Donja Jablanica area, funded entirely by the Islamic Community of BiH using specially allocated donations in collaboration with Merhamet. This initiative highlights the ongoing partnership between the Islamic Community and Merhamet in aiding flood-affected families.

Mayor Muratovic noted that upcoming efforts would focus on identifying suitable locations for housing construction. In coordination with the Faculty of Mining, Geology, and Civil Engineering in Tuzla, a study will be prepared to assess the stability and safety of potential construction sites, particularly in flood-affected areas within the municipality of Jablanica.

Next steps in Jablanica and beyond

A follow-up meeting is scheduled within the next ten days, during which specific proposals for constructing homes in Donja Jablanica will be presented. Earlier this month, a similar meeting took place with officials from the Municipality of Konjic, where a comparable project is set to be implemented.

Additionally, the Islamic Community plans to extend assistance to families impacted by floods in the municipalities of Fojnica, Kresevo, and Kiseljak using funds collected through this initiative.

This collaborative effort underlines the commitment of local organizations and institutions to support recovery and provide long-term solutions for families affected by natural disasters.
