Bakir Izetbegovic, leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), criticized Bosnia and Herzegovina's inability to organize the planned Western Balkans and EU Leaders' Summit in Neum, which was cancelled due to procurement issues. Izetbegovic called the failure a "diplomatic fiasco," attributing it to irresponsibility and potential corruption in awarding contracts to unqualified firms.
He emphasized the need for an investigation and said that a principled foreign minister should consider resigning over the incident.
Speaking on the broader political landscape, Izetbegovic highlighted the ongoing challenges with passing the Reform Agenda, necessary for the first tranche of the Growth Plan. He rejected claims that SDA was blocking progress, stressing that SDA has given conditional consent tied to fulfilling constitutional requirements and eliminating ethnic vetoes. He pointed out that such demands were also put forward by Brussels.
He also discussed international pressure on SDA to play a more active role in the reform process and expressed concerns about European partners potentially compromising with Dodik, which he feared would undermine Bosnia's stability and progress towards EU integration.
