Deputy Speaker of Bosnia’s House of Peoples and leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Bakir Izetbegovic, published a message to mark Turkey’s Democracy and National Unity Day and expressed strong support for Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Today, our brotherly Turkish nation marks the sixth anniversary of the fateful events of the night of July 15, 2016, when, with the leadership of its leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, it managed to defend freedom, democracy and its own value system. The coup attempt organized by the terrorist organization FETO, with the intention of assassinating President Erdogan, was prevented by the people who stood by their leader and stood bare-handed against the tanks and the faction within the army controlled by the terrorists,” Izetbegovic wrote.

He recalled the dramatic images from that night and praised “the incredible courage” of the people of Turkey.

“On July 15, 2016, while many were calculating and waiting for the outcome, I gave my full support to the Turkish people and the state and President Erdogan. I offer that support still today, in the hope that the events we witnessed on July 15, 2016 will never happen again. I wish my friend and brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan good health, and the Turkish people peace, freedom and prosperity,” his message said.
