Izetbegovic: If Dodik stays in politics, things will not end well for Bosnia and Herzegovina

“I believe the state has been humiliated, and everyone who loves Bosnia and Herzegovina feels humiliated by this. People should be equal before the law. When you do what they have done, you should be held accountable, not pardoned. They are basically leading us toward conflict. If Dodik stays in politics, things will not end well for Bosnia and Herzegovina. This leniency is pushing us in that direction,” Izetbegovic said.

“Just a few days ago in Nevesinje, Dodik said he would create Serbia within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Before that, he said the same thing in Kosovska Mitrovica a few months ago. These are dangerous statements,” he said.

Izetbegovic also pointed out that Dodik constantly shifts his positions but always manages to gain ground for himself in the process.

“Dodik says one thing one day and something else the next, but when you look at that zig-zag line — how he backtracks then moves forward — each time he secures more space for himself. We have two processes: one is his defiance of the High Representative’s decisions, and the other is his obstruction of the work of state institutions.”

When asked whether Dodik could avoid a final court verdict against him, Izetbegovic replied:

“We’ll see. He denies, then accepts; he says he won’t, then he will — but things keep moving in the direction that suits him. If Dodik is not removed from politics completely, if he is not banned entirely from political activity, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be defeated. We will be heading in a direction, and I do not know how it will end.”
