Jablanica declares October 4 a Day of Mourning for victims of last year’s floods and landslides

On this day, flags will be flown at half-mast, and all public entertainment programs will be suspended.

Public institutions, as well as organisers of cultural, sports, and other events, along with private businesses in the hospitality sector and media outlets operating in the Jablanica area, are required to adjust their programs and content in line with the observance.

The tragedy claimed 19 lives in Jablanica. Heavy rainfall triggered a landslide from a quarry that buried Donja Jablanica overnight. Residents fought heroically to save their families, while heartbreaking stories of loss and survival resonated across the globe. Citizens throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina rallied in solidarity, providing organised assistance to the people of Jablanica.
