July tourism surge sees Bosnia welcome 235,825 visitors, led by Turkish and Saudi nationals

Data published by the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina shows that visitors generated a total of 510,876 overnight stays, representing a 31.5 percent jump month-on-month and a 5.5 percent improvement year-on-year. Domestic travellers contributed 26 percent of all overnight stays, while international visitors drove the vast majority at 74 percent.

Domestic overnight stays grew by 1.8 percent from June and 11.8 percent from last July. Meanwhile, foreign overnight stays surged by 46.6 percent compared to the previous month and edged up 3.5 percent annually.

Visitors from Turkey topped the list of international nationalities by overnight stays with a 12.8 percent share. Saudi Arabian tourists followed closely at 10.7 percent, with Serbia at 7.1 percent, Croatia at 6.1 percent, Poland at 5.3 percent, Germany at 4.7 percent, and Israel at 4.4 percent rounding out the major inbound markets.

Total available lodging capacity for the month stood at 21,858 rooms, apartments, and campsites offering 49,556 beds. This capacity represented a slight contraction, with accommodation units decreasing by 1.2 percent and available beds dropping by 1.1 percent compared to July of last year.
