BiH Presidency member Zeljko Komsic commented on the recommendation for the candidate status of BiH for admission to the European Union saying, "we take note, but the perspective of membership is threatened by the decisions of the High Representative".
“We can only acknowledge the news about the granting of candidate status. Considering the new circumstances in which the High Representative in BiH completely ignores the verdicts of the European Court of Human Rights and the Opinion of the European Commission, when making decisions, and threatens the EU's path to BiH, we express concern and well-founded pessimism regarding the effects of granting candidate status in relation to the overall perspective of membership,” Komsic.
He pointed out that it is positive that the European Union recognized the efforts Bosnia made when it comes to the alignment of the country’s foreign policy with the positions of the European Union, which were achieved despite numerous obstructions.
