The Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, sent a letter to the Special Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Bosnia, Paulo Rangel, welcoming the recently adopted Resolution on BiH in the EU Parliament and warning that certain political forces in the country reject its content.
The EP adopted on Thursday a report on Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing strong support for the country's integration into the European Union and welcoming the country's commitment to advancing on this path. It said, among other things, that the reforms in the areas of democratic functionality, rule of law, fundamental rights and public administration are crucial for that to happen.

Komsic said that the report describes the situation in the country perfectly.
“I also consider it crucial that the Resolution protects the fundamental values of the European Union concerning the rule of law, the fight against corruption, democracy, stable and functional institutions, but also the protection of individual civil rights, as one of the necessary European standards,” he wrote.
“Unfortunately, there are anachronistic politicians and political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who recently rejected the Resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina through their official conclusions, demanding explicit retention of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is in five judgments of the European Court of Human Rights – Sejdic / Finci, Zornic, Pilav, Slaku and Pudaric – determined as systemic discrimination,” he warned.
Komsic reiterated that he is “fully committed” to fulfilling the 14 key priorities the European Commission defined for Bosnia on its path toward EU candidate status “because it improves the political and economic system of my country and creates opportunities for equality of all citizens.”
He also expressed his belief that, together with the institutions of the European Union, Bosnia can remove all blockades in its system which are caused by particular ethnic interests and are detrimental to human rights and fundamental freedoms of citizens.
