Konakovic attends Global Alliance ministerial meeting on two-state solution

In his address, Konakovic welcomed international efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and restoring a political horizon based on the two-state solution. He stressed that such efforts provide a valuable framework for ending the suffering and building a future in which a sovereign and viable State of Palestine and the State of Israel live side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition.

Konakovic stressed that the credibility of these initiatives must be demonstrated through tangible changes in people’s lives – protecting civilians, ensuring unhindered access to humanitarian aid, restoring basic services and creating a realistic prospect for lasting peace.

He recalled Bosnia and Herzegovina’s experience, stressing that his country had waited too long for the international community to act while civilians were under brutal attack, and that the war ended only when the international community decided to move beyond words and take decisive action. This experience, he said, shows that humanitarian protection cannot wait for favourable political circumstances and that international law loses its authority if it is applied selectively.

Speaking about the Alliance’s future efforts, Konakovic called for urgent and decisive action by the international community, stressing that new statements are not enough, but that binding decisions, concrete measures and clear consequences are needed for those who refuse to comply. He said that every hour of delay means more lives lost and that it is essential to make the time between now and the end of the violence as short as possible.
