Konakovic, Hasani: BiH, Albania committed to strengthening cooperation
The Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, is attending a meeting in Rome Monday with foreign ministers from Western Balkan countries and European Union member states that make up the "Group of Friends of the Western Balkans."

On the sidelines of the meeting, he held talks with Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani.
Ministers Konakovic and Hasani reaffirmed the friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania, underscoring both countries' strong commitment to maintaining and deepening future cooperation.
Minister Konakovic provided an update on the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing that European integration is not only in the interest of both BiH and Albania but is also crucial for securing long-term stability and security across the region.
He highlighted the need to enhance economic cooperation and trade, noting that current levels remain unsatisfactory. However, he expressed confidence in the shared commitment to strengthening ties, particularly in the energy sector, food industry, agriculture, and tourism.
Konakovic welcomed the European Union's decision to open accession negotiations with Albania and reiterated Bosnia and Herzegovina's dedication to EU membership.
He also stressed the importance of fostering good neighbourly relations with all Western Balkan countries through political dialogue, joint initiatives, bilateral meetings, and multilateral cooperation—ensuring that mutual interests are respected without preconditions.
