Konakovic meets German Foreign Minister Wadephul: Berlin reaffirms support for Bosnia’s EU path

Minister Konakovic expressed his gratitude to Germany for its long-standing support for Bosnia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its firm commitment to the country’s European integration process.

He underlined the importance of continued German backing for reform efforts, stressing that such support is vital at a time when Bosnia and Herzegovina faces a series of internal challenges.

A significant part of the meeting focused on economic cooperation, with Konakovic highlighting Germany’s role as one of Bosnia’s most important trading partners and foreign investors. The two officials also discussed development cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy transition, climate action, and sustainable growth.

Minister Konakovic reaffirmed that BiH’s foreign policy remains fully aligned with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), underscoring the country’s continued commitment to European values and standards.

Minister Wadephul reiterated Germany’s steadfast support for the stability of the Western Balkans and Bosnia’s European perspective. He noted the importance of homegrown reforms and stated that Germany remains ready to assist initiatives aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, and societal resilience.

The meeting in Belfast reaffirmed both countries’ mutual commitment to closer cooperation and to advancing Bosnia’s integration into the European Union within the framework of the Berlin Process.
