“It’s very important for Croatia that they will become leaders at the March summit of the EU Council and return to the topic of enlargement, per the conclusions of the summit held in December. This is particularly important for Bosnia and Herzegovina and we really hope that the leaders will decide to open accession negotiations with BiH. Croatia is carefully following the latest developments in BiH, and today my colleagues and I held an informal meeting with the BiH Council of Ministers Chair, Mrs Kristo, who informed us in detail about the development of the situation, especially the latest activities in BiH, and all concrete laws, regulations, action plans and concrete decisions that were made, not only last year but also this year. And all of them are very relevant to BiH's path to the EU. We are convinced that the leaders will be in a position to agree on the opening of negotiations with BiH,” said Andreja Metelko Zgombic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.

Karoline Edtstadler stated that they discussed the possibilities for BiH to receive support to quickly embark on the path to the European Union. The progress made by Bosnia and Herzegovina on this path was praised.

“Now it's time for the Commission to present the Progress Report so that the heads of states and governments can actually decide on the start of accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina in March. I think it's absolutely, necessary, especially given the fact that we're in a completely changed world and we just have to take advantage of that momentum. Bosnia and Herzegovina must also be encouraged to stay on track here. We must take advantage of this momentum so that accession negotiations can begin with BiH,” she stated

After an informal breakfast, Kristo met with Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi.
