More than 300 scientists, doctors and professors from 20 countries will present their work at 26 symposia that will take place as part of the largest scientific conference in BiH and the region, the 12th ‘Days of Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS)’, which started on Thursday in the southern city of Mostar and will last until June 27.

Professional symposia, round tables, panels, workshops and special programs will be held at the Mostar Gymnasium and the Cultural Center in Mostar. The grand opening will be held on Friday, June 25 at 7.30 pm, at the National Theater, which will be attended by many guests, including the US Ambassador to BiH, Eric Nelson.

This year, students will be a focus especially and will be able to attend specialized symposiums and workshops.

Postgraduate students in biology and chemistry from five universities across BiH will have the opportunity to present their postgraduate theses, and the best three presentations will be awarded.

Medical symposia again this year attracted a large number of domestic and foreign experts in this field. Twelve symposia in medical sciences will be held where the latest research and professional papers related to COVID-19, genetics, surgery, emergency medicine, gynaecology, intensive care, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics will be presented. About a hundred medical abstracts will be published in ‘Acta Medica Saliniana’ – the Official Medical Publication of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.

The first International Ophthalmological Symposium will also be realized with the participation of about one hundred ophthalmologists from BiH, the region and the world.

On June 26 and 27, a multidisciplinary symposium entitled “COVID-19 Research Across Disciplines” will be held, during which 17 original research projects related to COVID-19 will be presented, covering various disciplines, such as genetics, medicine, technology, public health, education, media and others.

The symposia in technical and natural sciences will feature the presentation of 63 papers throughout 10 sessions regarding the latest research and achievements in various fields of technical sciences, as well as sustainable urban development.

The ‘Days of BHAAAS in BiH’ are held every year and the organiser is one of the largest and most important academic organizations in BiH diaspora – the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS).
