By doing so, Lithuania joined the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria, which had previously taken similar steps.
The decision to bar them from entering the Baltic republic was published on the website of Lithuania's Ministry of the Interior, under the Migration Department's "undesirable persons" section. It states that the measure is in effect until 18 April 2030.
Lithuania's immigration authority cited Article 133 of the national law on the legal status of foreigners as the basis for the entry ban, though no further details were provided.

Among other provisions, that article allows for entry bans of up to five years for individuals deemed a threat to national security or public order.
Poland has also announced it will impose sanctions on Dodik.
Dodik, Stevandic and Viskovic are fugitives from justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina and are under investigation on suspicion of committing the criminal offence of attacking the constitutional order of the country.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has ordered them to be taken into custody for one month and has issued arrest warrants for all three.
