German flag carrier Lufthansa plans to cancel numerous flights from its Frankfurt hub to the destinations in former Yugoslavia, including Sarajevo, throughout September, according to the regional business media outlet SEEbiz.

Quoting the report by ‘Aeroroutes’, the media outlet said the cancellations will reflect on the routes connecting Frankfurt with Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Sarajevo, but the flights to and from Munich will remain for now.

In total, the company will cancel eight percent of all of its flights within its European network, according to the ExYuAviation news website.

Lufthansa has cancelled eight flights between Frankfurt and Belgrade during September reducing the number to 52 monthly flights.

As for Zagreb, the company also cancelled eight flights, reducing the total to 44 instead of the planned 52 flights.

Sarajevo will be the least affected with the new schedule and only one out of 29 flights planned for September will be cancelled.

Lufthansa has been hit by flight cancellations this summer due to staff shortages. The problem further worsened last month when their employees went on strike, dissatisfied with wages and other working conditions.
