The arrests were carried out as part of the operational action codenamed "Gora," under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by orders of the Court of BiH, as stated in a Wednesday press release from the BiH Border Police.
The statement notes that after three months of operational activities, BiH Border Police officers conducted searches of residential and other premises, accompanying facilities, and movable property belonging to the suspects, with items being temporarily seized.
These activities are being carried out at multiple locations in the Zvornik and Sarajevo areas with the aim of documenting the criminal offenses of "Organizing a group or association for the commission of the criminal offense of migrant smuggling" and "Human trafficking."
It has been established that the arrested individuals organized and carried out the smuggling of migrants from the Republic of Serbia into Bosnia under the guise of the taxi business, with the goal of acquiring unlawful financial gain.
