Representatives of the Troika parties ( Social Democratic Party, the People and Justice Party and Our Party), the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and HDZ BiH met in Istocno Sarajevo.

Milorad Dodik, the leader of the SNSD and President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said that it is regretful that there was a delay in reforms after BiH was granted EU candidate status, and that now the country is in a situation “that calls for solutions”.

“I believe that the locals should solve these issues. We are ready to refer some of the laws to the Parliament of BiH for it to decide and see how we can unblock the European path again”, he said after the meeting.

HDZ BiH leader Covic said that he believes that the solution would be the adoption of a new Election Law by next Friday in the Parliament.

“It seems that the solution is to adopt the BiH Election Law in the parliamentary procedure by next Friday, and that would solve most of the problems we have”, he said.

SDP leader Nermin Niksic expressed regret that the momentum after obtaining the negotiating status for the EU was blocked.

“We all regret that (we lost) the momentum we had after the opening of the negotiations when a blockade was created in the work of the Parliament. The meeting ended with us agreeing that we are determined to try to get back on the European path and try to unblock the issues. What we have achieved so far is reaching common solutions through compromise. We agreed to submit the election law to the BiH Parliament for the procedure so that the electoral procedures would be the result of an agreement between the local authorities,” said Niksic.
