This is the best proof that Bosnia and Herzegovina can function as a unified system when there is political will and focus on European obligations. This is a law that protects jobs, strengthens energy security, and opens the door for BiH to the European market, said the FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Vedran Lakic, after the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH adopted the Bill on the Regulator, Transmission and Electricity Market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH.

The main goal of the law is to establish a regulated wholesale electricity market and an electricity exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This would fulfill one of the key conditions for exempting BiH from the application of CBAM – a mechanism that could significantly affect the domestic economy starting from 1 January 2026.
"The FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry thanks all representatives in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly who supported this reform step and once again showed that through joint work we can adopt solutions that benefit the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We expect the same from the delegates in the House of Peoples so that the law can be adopted by the end of this year," the statement said.
