Bosnia’s Civil Affairs Ministry told N1 on Tuesday that 12.45 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated so far, and that they still expect Pfizer vaccine donations from the USA as well as AstraZeneca from Denmark and Moderna from Croatia.
The number of vaccines received as of September 3, 2021, in BiH is 2,994,050 doses through all procurement mechanisms (donations, EU4Health, COVAX and direct procurement of entities).
Vaccines from AstraZeneca, BioNTech/Pfizer, Sinopharm and Sinovac arrived in BiH through the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Answering N1’s question regarding the currently available vaccines, the Ministry said that the entity institutions are responsible for that, because the vaccination process is in their competence.
“A total of 634,063 people, or 18.53 percent of the total population had received the first dose while the second dose was received by 426,082 people, or 12.45 percent of Bosnians,” they noted.
Speaking about the expected deliveries of vaccines, the Ministry added that they have confirmation that 503,100 doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in BiH through a US donation, followed by a donation of 250,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the Kingdom of Denmark and 70,000 doses of Moderna vaccine from Croatia.
“Under the ‘EU4Health’ programme, we are in the phase of an agreement for the purchase of vaccines from EU member states,” the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs said.
“Under the COVAX mechanism, we expect the information on the allocation related to the number of doses and manufacturers during the fourth quarter of this year,” they added.
