The month of Ramadan is a month of obligatory fasting for all adult, healthy Muslims who are not on the road. Fasting was ordered in the 2nd year of Hijra (624). Every adult, healthy and free Muslim is obliged to fast for a whole month from dawn to sunset. It is the third foundation of Islam. The month of Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, which sometimes has 29 and sometimes 30 days. Muslims fast in all seasons according to the lunar calendar. The year of the Muslim calendar is ten days shorter than the solar year, so Ramadan moves ten days each year.

The first day of Eid al-Fitr is April 10, 2024.

Eid al-Fitr occurs on the 1st of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Hijri calendar. This Eid lasts for three days.
