The Mostar Tourism Board, in partnership with the Via Dinarica project, unveiled the new educational and thematic trail "Park Slavena" at Rujiste on Saturday.
Elvira Dilberovic, Director of the Mostar Tourism Board, highlighted the organization’s dedication to revitalizing this beloved outdoor destination near Mostar, marking the launch of what she described as the first of many future initiatives.
“The opening of ‘Park Slavena’ demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the tourism potential of Mostar and its surroundings. This is just the start of several projects we have planned for Rujiste,” Dilberovic said.
Salem Maric, President of the Mostar City Council, underscored the city’s support for such developments, emphasizing the importance of investing in tourism infrastructure.
“Projects like this are vital for our city. We are proud to back initiatives that drive both tourism and economic progress in Mostar,” Maric stated.
Bozena Kaltak, Director of the UNDP Regional Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressed gratitude to the Italian Development Agency (AICS) for funding the project. She also lauded the significance of the Via Dinarica trail, a global model for sustainable tourism.
“Via Dinarica is internationally recognized as a leading example of sustainable tourism. Bosnia and Herzegovina plays a crucial role in this initiative, and ‘Park Slavena’ is a valuable addition to that effort,” Kaltak said.
Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, visitors explored the two-kilometer trail, which blends natural beauty with educational content about Slavic mythology.
The Via Dinarica project, implemented and co-financed by UNDP BiH with support from AICS, continues to promote sustainable tourism development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Mostar Tourism Board announced.
