United Media, the leading media company in Southeast Europe, signed a new three-year contract continuing the successful partnership between the leading regional information platform N1 and the prestigious American media company CNN.
The partnership between CNN and N1, which provides access to independent and verified news to an audience of millions in the region, began in 2014. It was the first exclusive partnership signed by an American media organization in this part of Europe.
“We are proud to continue our cooperation with N1, which is our important partner in Southeast Europe,” said Walid Chamak, Director of Content Sales and Licensing at CNN.
“We have worked closely with N1 since the launch of the channel in 2014 and look forward to continuing our collaboration through content sharing, access to CNN coverage, as well as providing training and consultation as N1 develops its product offering,” he said.
The continuation of the long-term cooperation is a confirmation of the joint commitment to respecting the highest international journalistic standards in the interest of the public, which is one of the basic postulates by which media owned by United Media are guided in their work.
Aleksandra Subotic, the CEO of United Media, said: “Just like CNN, United Media is committed to supporting democratic values. Support for independent media that is free from political influence is crucial for the development of democracy. This is especially important in the region where media freedoms are often under pressure. Being a reliable source of accurate and unbiased news is a key factor in the popularity of our content. We are grateful for CNN's support that allows us to provide this important service to our audience in Southeast Europe.”
Through cooperation with CNN, N1 has access to the latest world reports, analyses and exclusive interviews. CNN correspondents report directly from the field to N1 programs, providing audiences with the most up-to-date information from around the world. With the reporting of its reporters from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia, N1 has the privilege of providing citizens with a comprehensive view of the most important events.
The added value of the partnership with CNN lies in the fact that N1 producers and journalists have the opportunity to undergo training together with the most experienced people from the global leader in news production and learn about the latest world trends when it comes to the production and distribution of informative and documentary content.
Since its establishment, N1 has been among the most-watched cable channels and among the most visited portals in each of the countries where it operates. It has proven to be the most trusted media in the region and the primary source of information for citizens in all crisis situations, including the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
N1’s biggest capital lies in the team of television professionals with many years of experience gathered in each production centre – in Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Ljubljana. Over 400 people produce more than 30 hours of premiere content of their own production every day. And confirmation of many years of dedicated professional work are numerous awards from domestic and international organizations that have been received by N1’s journalists and reporters over the past nine years.
United Media, within which N1 operates, is a leading media company in Southeast Europe. It employs some 4,200 people in eight countries. In its portfolio are over 55 television channels and 30 web portals, as well as radio stations and printed publications.
