US journalist, now a soldier on the frontlines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the Russian Federation, spoke to N1's Ika Ferrer Gotic about the reasons she temporarily left the journalist profession in order to fight on the Ukrainian side. Sarah Ashton-Cirillo is an American journalist who enlisted as a combat medic in the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, having previously worked as a war correspondent in that conflict.
Ashton-Cirillo is active on social networks and is often the very topic of Russian media outlets. Last month Sarah was wounded in Donbas region, but after intensive treatment, she returned to the frontlines.
“The Wagner is literally hunting me down. Every propagandist that is carrying out the wishes of Vladimir Putin as a war criminal, is also a war criminal. I don't mind being the subject of their hate, the reality is, Russians hate the truth,” Ashton-Cirillo said.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine enters its 428th day. The Ukrainian army continues to show resistance in the east and south of the country.
The first 24 hours of Ukraine's long-expected counteroffensive could be the longest day for the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the start of the war.
N1 takes you to Ukraine's frontlines, whose army now has military support from the West.
We analyze the crimes committed against civilians, talk about Western sanctions against Russia, but also the nuclear war threats.
The exclusive guests of the special show about the war in Ukraine with N1's Ika Ferrer Gotic include the American journalist, now a soldier in the armed forces of Ukraine, Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, from Kharkiv and CNN's Nic Robertson from Kyiv. Vladyslav Stadnyk started an official international non-profit organization Steel Wings Foundation that supplies the Ukrainian Armed Forced with drones. He is also our speaker on this special report.
