N1’s Semir Mustafic to open inaugural SrebrenicaDocs festival with new documentary

Semir Mustafic, journalist at N1, will open the first-ever SrebrenicaDocs documentary film festival with the screening of his film “The Revived” (Ozivjeli) on June 23, 2025, at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in Potocari. The festival is part of the Srebrenica Outreach Project, supported by the UK Government.
The three-day event (June 23–25) will feature 14 documentary films by Bosnian filmmakers, exploring themes of remembrance, justice, identity, and personal stories rooted in the Srebrenica genocide. All screenings are free to the public and will include post-film discussions with the authors and film participants.
Following Mustafic’s opening film, the first day will also feature “The Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial Centre” by Arijana Saracevic-Helac (FTV), “Dr. Ilijaz Pilav” by Elma Kazagic (FTV), and “Born After” by Ahmedin Bozic, Redzep Ustic, Samra Halilovic, and Nedim Jahic.
Day two includes “My Life: Srebrenica” by Azra Gegic Kahrovic (RTV TK), “My Name is Mother” by Melina Raidovic (Hayat), “Salih Brkic: Reporter of the Dead Souls” by Nadira Hurem (BIR TV), “Mothers and Sons” by Nerminka Emric (TVSA), and Al Jazeera’s “Srebrenica’s Bone Hunter” by Jasmina Djikoli and Muris Beglerovic.
The final day will showcase five more films, including “Srebrenica Through a Child’s Eyes” by Bojan Hadzibadic (BHRT), “I Survived… Sadik” by Dzeneta Saric-Kozic (Hayat), “Ambush” by Jasenko Krehic (BHRT), “Justice & Правда” by Denis Dzidic, Nino Bilajac, and Enes Hodzic (BIRN BiH / Detektor.ba), and “Murdered Worlds” by Hasan Hasanovic, produced by the Memorial Centre.
In addition to screenings, 20 youths from across Bosnia and Herzegovina will be invited to take part in the festival as volunteers, with travel, lodging, and meals provided. Participants will receive official certificates and can apply via www.bit.ly/srebrenicadocs by June 20.
Organisers encourage applications from students of social sciences, performing arts, and others interested in preserving the culture of remembrance through film and dialogue.
