The Special Department was established with the aim of more effectively prosecuting the most complex cases of corruption, organized crime, financial crime, as well as other corrupt criminal offenses that pose a serious threat to legal security and the rule of law, and undermine the stability of society, according to the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH.
Given that procurement procedures for equipping the department with material and technical resources have not yet been completed, and that the appointment processes for certain prosecutors, civil servants, and administrative staff have not yet been finalized, the Special Department will, for the time being – hopefully briefly – operate with limited capacity.
Despite these limitations, the Department will begin taking over cases within its jurisdiction starting today and will make every effort to resolve them.
The FBiH Prosecutor’s Office said it remains committed to the principles of legality, professional and impartial conduct, and calls on all competent authorities for full cooperation, and on citizens for trust and support in the joint fight against corruption and organized crime. The public will be timely informed of all further steps and results of the work of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of FBiH, the statement concludes.
