Niksic meets Charge d’Affaires: Continuation of strategic energy projects remains a priority

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Vedran Lakic, and the Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees, Nerin Dizdar, alongside the Head of the Embassy’s Economic Section, Sarah Rupert, and the incoming Deputy Head of the Embassy’s Political Section, Monica Bland.

Discussions focused primarily on the continuation of activities regarding the implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection project. It was emphasised that work carries on to harmonise contractual issues between the investor and the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a shared commitment to signing the agreement shortly to enable the project’s delivery in the interest of citizens and the energy security of the Federation of BiH.

The importance of identifying appropriate solutions regarding state property issues was highlighted, which would facilitate a more efficient continuation of strategic infrastructure and energy projects, among which the Southern Gas Interconnection remains a priority.

The interlocutors noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina possesses significant potential for the development of the energy sector, particularly in terms of gas infrastructure and renewable energy sources, and expressed confidence that joint endeavours can create the conditions necessary for delivering projects of strategic importance.

The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to sustaining the partnership between the Government of the Federation of BiH and the United States on initiatives that contribute to energy stability, economic development and fresh investment in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
