Officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Croatia on Friday called for the prosecution of a war crime committed by Serb forces against Croats in Brisevo, near Prijedor, BiH where a commemoration was held for the 67 victims.

The atrocity was remembered on social media by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman and the leader of the Bosnian Croat HDZ BiH party, Dragan Covic.

“In addition to the symbolic act of commemoration and remembrance, it is essential to insist on justice - namely, the punishment of the direct perpetrators, but above all those who planned and ordered this crime,” Grlic Radman wrote on X.

Covic stated that across BiH, “we remember the pain and suffering of all innocent victims, united in the pursuit of justice, which has yet to be served more than three decades later.”

Wreaths were laid and candles lit at the memorial by numerous delegations, including the Croat Vice President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, Davor Pranjic, the country's Deputy Defence Minister, Slaven Galic, and Croatia’s Consul General in Banja Luka, Zoran Pilicic.

On 24 and 25 July 1992, Serb forces killed 67 Croats in Brisevo, including entire families. Survivors have testified to brutal torture, rape and massacres; the youngest victim was just 14 years old. Today, only four Croats remain in Brisevo, down from 400 before the war.
