Bosnia's Transport and Communications Minister, Vojin Mitrovic, resigned after the leader of his party and President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity expressed the position that elected and appointed officials can perform only one function at a time, Nezavisne Novine reported.
Mitrovic confirmed this information and pointed out that he made his mandate available to the Dodik and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD).
“I absolutely support this and I have made my mandate available. I don't know if the resignation will be accepted. I received the mandate of an MP, I took the oath on Tuesday,” he said, adding that it is now up to Dodik to decide on the matter.
Meanwhile, Drazen Vrhovac, acting director of the Investment and Development Bank (IRB) of the RS entity, decided to refrain from serving in the RS National Assembly although he was elected. He also said he fully supports Dodik’s position.
“Dear President, in the previous period I publicly stated my personal position regarding the fact that elected and appointed officials can perform only one function. I fully support you and accordingly, I will initiate the procedure of returning the mandate of the MP to the National Assembly of the RS,” Vrhovac wrote on Twitter.
