In the past 24 hours, 106 coronavirus cases and no COVID deaths have been registered in Slovenia, its government said on Tuesday, blaming the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases on the more contagious coronavirus Delta variant.
The share of positive tests has also gone up by 3.7% and now stands at 6.4%.
Compared with seven days ago, there is a 19% jump in the number of new cases.
It is estimated that there are 871 active cases, the seven-day average of daily new cases is 70 per 100,000 population and the 14-day incidence is 41.3.
According to health authorities, the country is headed towards a new pandemic wave which the authorities associated with the spreading of the new, more contagious Delta variant.
A total of 37.5% of Slovenia's population have been fully vaccinated, with the authorities saying that there are enough doses of the vaccine for everyone. The government has also announced restrictions for those who refuse to get vaccinated by the fall.
