The 4th meeting of the Organizing Committee to mark the 29th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the 'UN Safe Area' of Srebrenica in July 1995 was held today in the Srebrenica Memorial Center. They discussed the activities so far in preparation for the anniversary.

The Organizing Committee welcomed the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica by the UN General Assembly and thanked all those who contributed to the adoption of the Resolution.

”I'm sorry that Serbia was not a co-sponsor of the Resolution. We are glad that it was adopted and it is an important step. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the adoption of the Resolution. Thank you to our members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian Ambassador to the UN, and everyone who contributed. We need to talk about Srebrenica,” said the President of the Association “Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves”, Munira Subasic.

The draft program for marking the anniversary was adopted at the Organizing Committee session and the Committee Chair, Hamdija Fejzic, pointed out that the preparations were proceeding according to plan.

”In the coming days, there will probably be some additions to the marking program, and in a couple of weeks, we will adopt the final program. The team that worked in previous years is still working. We don't have much time left, but I believe that everything will be ready for the anniversary. We have an obligation to the victims. Preparations are underway for all activities. The focus is also on the Peace March because this year is the 20th anniversary of the first Peace March. We expect a large number of participants,” pointed out Fejzic.

The session participants said they expect over five thousand participants to take part in this year's “Peace March”.

According to information from the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 11 victims of genocide have been identified so far and they will be buried on July 11 in Potocari.
