Paris commemorates Srebrenica genocide victims with call to preserve truth

A commemoration honouring the victims of the Srebrenica genocide was held at the Memorial to the Victims of Genocide at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, bringing together diplomats, French officials, representatives of the City of Paris and members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina diaspora.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador to France, Visnja Loncar, addressed those in attendance, stressing the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance, truth and justice, as well as the international responsibility to ensure that the Srebrenica genocide is never forgotten.
Among the officials attending the ceremony were Eric Pliez, mayor of Paris' 20th arrondissement, Paris Deputy Mayor Annah Bikoulou and Paris City Councillor Genevieve Garrigos, along with representatives of Bosnian associations in France.
A wreath was laid in memory of the victims killed in July 1995.
Speakers highlighted the need to preserve historical truth and continue the fight against genocide denial, historical revisionism, discrimination and all forms of hatred.
The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in France said it would continue supporting initiatives aimed at preserving the memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide while promoting peace, human dignity, mutual respect and understanding.
