Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic criticized the decision to "overrule Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina" and impose the Southern Gas Interconnection Law, stating that any form of imposition is problematic. He pledged to help resolve disagreements.
“Impositions are never good. Overruling is even worse. Bosnia and Herzegovina must function harmoniously, without disadvantaging one of its three constituent peoples, especially when the gas comes from Croatia and relies on Croatian investment. We will continue to be constructive,” Plenkovic said in Zagreb.
He highlighted the absence of support from any political representatives of Croats in BiH, including HDZ BiH and other parties within the HNS coalition, calling it a strong political message that Croatia supports.
Plenkovic emphasized Croatia's commitment to Bosnia's energy independence through investments such as the Krk LNG terminal and the importance of the Southern Gas Interconnection linking Dugopolje, Zagvozd, Imotski, and Posušje.
“Our aim is to reduce BiH’s dependence on Russian gas coming via Serbia. This project has broader implications, and such laws must consider all constituent peoples’ interests,” he added.
Plenkovic called for consensus, ensuring that Croatia, as a neighbor and advocate for Bosnia in Europe, helps while safeguarding Croats’ interests in the gasification project.
