Some 750 migrants and refugees arrived in north-Bosnian Una-Sana Canton (USK) in the first 15 days of March alone - it Cantonal Police Administration confirmed Wednesday.
“At the entrance to the canton near Bosanska Krupa, some 500 migrants were registered this month alone, while around 250 people arrived near Kljuc heading towards Bihac or Velika Kladusa. We regularly stop them at these checkpoints, but we're aware that we cannot hermetically close the entire area, and that they find their way to their temporary destinations,” USK police spokesperson Ale Siljdedic told Fena news agency.
All four temporary reception camps in Bihac, Cazin and Velika Kladusa are currently filled to the capacity, considering that around 2,500 people are housed there.
The USK Interior Ministry estimates that almost the same number of migrants and refugees live in city streets, public areas and abandoned buildings.
